Facial Hair Removal

Introduction

Facial hair reduction is challenging for both men & women. There are both short term solutions & quicker such as (Waxing, threading, tweezing, shaving) as well as long term and permanent facial hair removal solutions such as laser hair removal.

This laser treatment for hair removal uses highly concentrated beams with precision to target coarse and dark hair and destroy the follicles from the root. Hair on the mid-brow, forehead, cheeks, chin, hairline, jawline, lower face, lower lip, side locks and upper lip can be treated with a laser. Due to more demand for grooming in the corporate industry, nowadays men also go for permanent beard shaping and a well defined mustache look, hair removal on mid-brow, ears.

How does a laser work?

During laser hair removal, a laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat, which damages the hair follicles that produce hairs, making the hair weak which then falls out. The damaged hair follicle loses its ability to produce any further hair for a long time and sometimes it results in permanent hair reduction.

Preparing for facial laser hair removal

  • Avoid sun exposure in the days before treatment, as laser hair removal doesn’t work well on tanned skin.

  • Avoid peels or other chemical treatments in the week leading up to your procedure, which may irritate skin.

  • You may be told to shave or wax the area beforehand.

  • If possible, arrive at your appointment with clean, makeup-free skin.

  • Try to arrive with a low body temperature (i.e. don’t power walk to your appointment). If you’re warm to begin with, the laser may feel more uncomfortable.

  • Avoid aspirin or other anti-inflammatory drugs or herbal remedies that may increase bleeding.

  • Reschedule your appointment if you have a cold sore or other open cut on your face.

FAQ for Facial Hair Removal Treatment

The American Academy of Dermatologists says it’s typical to lose 50-100 strands of hair each day. Longer hair strands may be more visible. The loss of 100 or more hair strands each day isn’t noticeable since each person’s scalp has 100,000 or more hair follicles.
Hair loss during oiling is also frequent. It will cling to your hands as you massage your scalp with the oil. Hair loss when brushing, washing, or oiling your hair should not worry you as long as it is under 100 strands each day.
